Dental 4 Less – Dental Abscess
Question: I have a abscess in my gum behind my last tooth. I went to the dentist and was prescribed anti-biotic. He said that my back molar will need to have a root canal but not until the abscess clears.
Can anyone advise me on how long that normally takes. I am in a great deal of pain and just want my tooth fixed. But if I have to wait for the abscess to clear first how many days am I going to be in pain for? Should I get pain killers too?
Reply: Time frame can vary as it depends on the person. But roughly I would say about five or so days. If you are in really bad pain where two over the counter ibuprofen can not help you may want to ask for a prescription for pain killers. Know that some dental however will not provide prescriptions for that type of medicine
