Can you damage your teeth by brushing them too long?
Question: I like to brush my teeth for at least five or more minutes. I do not think two minutes is really long enough to take care of your teeth. However, some of my friends tell me that brushing too long may be bad for my teeth. I really do not believe them but I am wondering if they can be right
Answer: You ever heard the saying too much of a good thing is not good? Well that saying does apply to brushing your teeth. You are not alone with your thinking that longer or hard brushing is better. According to experts many many people believe that the longer and harder you brush your teeth, the better it is for your teeth. However the fact is there’s a limit to the amount of pressure your teeth can take, and beyond that extra force or time doesn’t do any further good. In fact it can start to damage to your tooth enamel
According to a new study it shows that applying more than a light amount of pressure to your teeth or brushing longer than two minutes does not make them any cleaner and may increase the risk of oral health problems.
