Millions of Kids in the U.S. Lack Dental Care.
Even though studies show that proper dental care is essential to our overall health care, according to a report from the Institute of Medicine, nearly five million U.S. children (about 1 out of every 16) did not receive dental care in 2008. Cost being a large factor since families could not afford dental care. The IOM report calls for oral and dental health care for all and lays out a vision to achieve it. Oral health often gets overlooked, but it’s an essential component of comprehensive health care.
