New York Dental Insurance, Dental Discount Plans for Family Dental Care

New York Dental Insurance, Dental Discount Plans for Family Dental Care:  Brooklyn New York with my family.  My wife and I and two children.  With the increasing cost of dental care we have decided to look into getting us either a dental insurance or a dental discount plan for our family but I am not sure which is the better way to go. 

Dental insurance is much  more costly then a dental discount plans but does it pay out better in the long run?  Or is getting a dental plan better since it cost much less.  Just not sure what I may be missing here.
