New York Dental Care, can you remove a dental bridge
New York Dental Care: Hello, about two year ago I had a bridge put in towards the back top part of my mouth. Can I remove the dental bridge and just go without? I think it is causing me to have bad smelling breath. Since the teeth are in the back no one would really notice I do not smile so big as to see it anyway.

Well your bridge should not make your breath smell bad. Not if you are brushing and flossing daily like you should. Try using a strong mouthwash to kill germs.
You can not just go pulling out bridges. They are attached to your two teeth on either side of the bridge. I would go to the dentist seei if by chance you have any gum issues that can be causing bad breath or any tooth decay which will also cause you to have bad breath.

Are you for real? You really want to go pulling out a bridge and go without anything at all? You know that your teeth will start shifting if you do that. Giving you gaps that can happen in the front of your mouth.
I think you should look for other possible reason for your bad smelling breath then just your bridge? If it really is your bridge then have a dentist take a look at it. Maybe you have tooth decay under the bridge. I would not just take if off but that is me. You have to live with the choices you make.

So not a good idea. But is that is what you really want to do that is up to you. May I suggest having a dentist remove the bridge? A bridge is attached to two teeth.
You would have to address those teeth either by having them crowned or pulled. Since they have been taken down to fit the bridge on you can not have just little stubs without them causing you dental problems in the future.

You know you may not think people can see missing teeth just because the are the back of your mouth but guess what they can.
And this may sound mean but seems to rings true with most people. When I see people missing teeth or having bad teeth the first thing I think of is how lazy that person is not to even take care of there oral health.
I do not get why anyone lets their teeth get so bad. Now I do know that for some there is a medical issue to why they may have bad teeth but lets face facts that is a small few. Many people just do not brush and floss their teeth. Or they do not go to the dentist regularly then wonder why they have bad teeth…
That said as harsh as it may sound I tell you most people I talk to feel the same way. Bad teeth make a statement. Pulling out bridges and leaving gaps not a good idea. I really do not think your bad breath has anything to do with a bridge.
If you talk to a dentist you can find out for sure. If it not dental related then it could be another issues causing you to have bad breath and therefore taking out a bridge will not solve your problems.
