Buying an HMO dental insurance plan
I was looking at your Golden West dental and the Pacificare dental but do not really know which one I should get. They both look good but what are the differences? Why should I get one over the other. What should I be looking for when buying dental insurance?

What I really like about dental HMO plans is that their coverages are all laid out for you. You know what you are covered for and how much you are going to have to pay for the dental services listed.
There is not guessing. When comparing dental HMOs you want to compare the coverages and your cost for the dental services you may feel you need or will need to have.
Then you compare dentist that are listed in their network. Make sure you have a dentist you want to go to under an HMO. I would advise giving them a call before making the final decision on which plan to buy.

I agree with the last post. I bough Pacificare for my own dental needs. However, that was because when comparing it to the Golden West dental 200 although the dental services where a little more under the Pacificare for me I did not want the six month waiting periods for the crown.
Since at the time I bought the plan I knew I needed to have a crown. Read both plans policy terms and conditions. See which one you may like better. Over all they are both good dental HMO’s plan I really do not see you going wrong with either.

You are just going to have to know your own dental needs to make a choice between the two plans.
I do not like the waiting periods that Golden West 200 has for the crowns and bridges but it is only six months. Were Pacificare does not have waiting periods but they also do not have any coverages for specialist. Where at least if you review the Golden West plan you will see that you do get a 25 percent discount of specialist.
What may be best for you is in the plans details. Make sure you read and understand whatever you decide to get. And remember what you are not sure of it is better you call and ask so that you have a full understanding of the plan you want to buy.
