Dental 4 Less – Low Cost for Major Services.
Question: I need a root canal. What would be the best dental insurance plan to get a root canal done at the lowest possible cost? I was told by my dentist that if I was to look for dental insurance to help me with the cost of the needed root canal that I would need to get a PPO.
Would a PPO offer me the lowest cost on a root canal treatment? What I do know at this point is that I do not have $1200.00 for the root canal. Oh by the way forgot that cost includes a crown so I would also need to have a crown after the root canal was done. Please advise.
Reply: A dental PPO plan would aloud you to choose your on provider. There by letting you keep your current dentist. Yet, it may not be the lowest cost or in this cast the higher benefit option for you. That is because most PPO plans to have waiting periods. Even PPO plans that do not have waiting periods typically limit your benefits within the first year. You would just have to review the plans to verify what benefits you would receive right away for a root canal and crown.
It is probably a save bet to say your dentist dose not accept HMO’s insurance plans. Though these plans may be more beneficial to you as they typically do not have waiting periods and they state your cost for services covered. Thereby letting you compare if the prices is affordable to you or not.
