Dental Insurnce services, Cash discounts.

Okay so I have a PPO dental insurance plan though work.  I want to start using the dental plan for my dental cleaning,  X-ray and what not.  So I hear that dentist will give you a cash discount if you are paying for their services in full.

So why do that not give me a discount since when I call and tell a dentist I have  a PPO I am told that I have to pay in full and wait for my refund from the company.  I am okay with this to a point but feel I am getting cheated out of my cash discount just because I have dental insurance.   So how do I address this with the dentist to make sure I get my cash discount credited to me?

    Well I would agree with the fact that there still may be dentist that give a cash discount. However fewer and fewer dentist really do that any more.

    And they do not have to give you a discount for paying them in full. When you think about there is not to many places where you can have work done and or receive and not have to pay for it at that time. However we expect dentist to do that all the time.

    You may still be able to find a dentist that will either file the claim and not charge you until they get the money from the dental insurance company. Just call around until you get a dental office that willing to work things out with you more

    I do not have any dentist in my area that give a cash discount credit any more. I wish I did too. I had to pay in full for my claims for a little over a year.

    Once I was no longer considered a new patient for my dentist the dental office started filing out the claims for me and billing me for any adjusted differences. I understood, after all I was new they had no record on me to know if I would pay them on a timely manor or not. Hopefully you will be able to find a good dentist that makes sense for you.

    One more thought: If you have a PPO normally if you stay within the network of dentist those dentist are more willing to work out payment and claims issue since they have a working relationship with the dental insurance company.
