Poor Dental Care can Lead to Death.
Back in 2007 a 12 year old boy dies from an untreated tooth infection. The infection spread to his brain and he had have two brain surgeries, though despite this the young boy passed away. This is not the first time a child or an adult has die from tooth infections that went untreated and sadly it probably is not the last time either.
There are still many people in the U.S. that feel that having proper dental care is secondary and not important. Many people that receive dental benefits though their employment still do not see a dentist regularly. This is normally due to cost, stating that even with their benefits their co-pay for dental services is either too high or they just can not afford to spend their money on dental care. Even though most dental insurance plans offer preventive dental services for free.
Many more people do not receive dental benefits and go without dental insurance, since they can not afford the high cost of having dental insurance on their own. Making it very hard for them to afford even preventive dental care.
Tragedy like the 12 year old boy dose not have to happen. In most states there are low cost dental insurance and dental plans for individuals and their family. These plans can start as low as $15.00 a month. If cost is still an issue, there are other options for low cost to free dental care such as dental schools and dental clinics.
By having proper preventive dental care at home and at a dentist, you can help to avoid having larger dental issues such. It is important for people to stop putting dental health care on the back burner, or these types of unnecessary tragedies will continue to happen
